Privacy is a fundamental human right recognized in the UN Declaration of Human Rights. To me this doesn't mean that anyone and everyone can do whatever they want and it be kept a secret. I don't feel that privacy extends to corporations and governments keeping their activities secret. But what it does mean, to me, is that individuals have the right to go about their lives without unnecessary intrusion and observation.
I guess the key word there is unnecessary. One person's necessity may not be the same as another's.
I'm opposed to survellance and intrusions designed to keep an eye on everyone in case they commit a crime. Such intrusions should be only a result of provable and reasonable legally documented suspicion.
As far as I am concerned you, the reader, have a right to your privacy. So I don't try and track you or work out who you are. Likewise I expect you the reader to respect my privacy and not seek out any information I don't willingly share with you.
